PPM Fun Fact: The NHL lockout and it’s impact on TV viewing.
The hockey returned to our screens on 19th January 2013. The impact of the lockout was felt in the TV viewing numbers for Fall 2012. However this top line genre analysis shows that Professional Sports was still the most watched genre for Men aged 25-54 over the period. This genre did drop a total of 32% year on year yet the impact on total viewing was only a drop of 4.9% (compared to a drop of 2.8% for all individuals 2+). Other genres benefited. For the guys this seems to have been Game Shows, Variety, News, Comedy, Animation, Reality Programs and to a certain extent the Amateur Sports.
